Manufacturers would have you believe they are the be all and end all of quality, when they’re really not. They simply determine how big you can print the image. Unless you’re printing billboards (for whatever reason) you’ll be fine with any camera that’s on the market now. I always say invest in good glass.

my boyfriend got me a canon rebel xt for valentines day. i'm obviously eventually going to look into upgrading but would you say this is a good pick for beginner work, like, shooting family portraits and whatnot?
